We have two months to prevent a right-wing extremist from becoming Attorney General of Virginia. We need your help.
Team,
We’re just over two months out from our only race of 2021 – the election for Virginia Attorney General – and the outcome of this race is absolutely critical in 2022 and beyond.
AG Mark Herring has been a progressive champion for Virginia (and our country) on issues ranging from reducing gun violence to student loan relief, but his Republican opponent is threatening to undo years of progress if elected. We can’t afford to let that happen, friend.
AG Herring’s opponent, Jason Miyares, is an NRA-endorsed right-winger whose extremist views are downright disturbing. As a state legislator, Miyares voted against Medicaid expansion, against expanding background checks for gun owners, and against a bill to protect LGBTQIA+ Virginians from discrimination. And what’s more, he’s been supported by the likes of Ted Cruz and Marco Rubio.
We can’t sacrifice the progress AG Herring has made — most recently, on leading the charge against gun violence with a new program to intervene and protect Virginians using federal relief money.
A future with Miyares as AG would be disastrous: rolling back gun restrictions, undoing protections for LGBTQIA+ Virginians, and restricting access to health care.
What’s more, Miyares believes he has momentum: he’s kicking off a road tour to make his case to Virginians. He thinks he can win this race, so we need to let him know that’s never going to happen.
Remember: The GOP spent over $7 million to defeat AG Herring last cycle, and they’re eager to send a message by winning their first race after Trump’s defeat.
Democratic AGs truly are “The People’s Lawyers” and DAGA is the only party committee devoted to electing more of them. Since 2016, we’ve won two-thirds of our targeted races, and with more than 30 AG seats up for grabs in the next two years, we need your support – will you chip in today?
