Dear John,

Aisha Adkins here again, with some really great news — we are extending the deadline for the Caring Across Generations 2021 Care Fellowship Application to Monday, August 30!

Taking part in the first fellowship cohort back in 2019 truly changed my life. As a caregiver, I got to learn about the policies directly impacting unpaid family caregivers, work on becoming a more effective storyteller, and create friendships I am sure will last a lifetime.

So, if you are or have ever provided care for someone in your life, like an older relative, a child with disabilities, a friend or neighbor with a chronic illness, your experience is valued and your input is needed to create the bold transformation of a care infrastructure that is equitable, accessible, and affordable for all.

Submit your application before 11:59pm ET on Monday August 30th.

A group of seven people, the 2019 Care Fellows, stand in a line, wearing matching tshirts and holding signs that say Universal Family Care Now and We Work !#$%&* Hard!

This new application deadline means that we also have a new start date for the Fellowship: September 23.

The Care Fellowship began in 2019 with 8 family caregivers from around the United States who were interested in learning how they can use their experience and collective power to change the way that care is given, received, and viewed in this country.

We understand that care in the United States has historically been carried out by Black women and that women of color, members of the LGBTQ community, and people with disabilities are disproportionately affected by lack of access to care supports as well as systemic oppression. At Caring Across Generations, we believe that change must be inclusive and intersectional, and that when we center and uplift the experiences of Black women, everyone benefits.

All former and current caregivers are encouraged to apply, and those who identify as Black, people of color, people with disabilities, and members of the LGBTQ community are welcome and embraced in this space.

The Care Fellowship offers a unique opportunity to sharpen written and oral storytelling skills, learn about and lobby for caregiving policy, engage in civic leadership, and connect to other family caregivers.

For more information and to apply for the fellowship, apply here. Applications will close on Monday, August 30, 2021 at 11:59 pm ET.
