There’s a reason the UN Secretary General called the IPCC’s latest report on climate change “a code red for humanity.”
This is extremely concerning:
The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration just concluded that July was Earth’s hottest month on record.1
In fact, it’s looking likely that 2021 will rank among the 10 warmest years ever recorded.2
There’s a reason the United Nations Secretary General called the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC)’s latest report “a code red for humanity.”3
According to the IPCC report, if global warming continues on its current track, hundreds of millions of people will face water scarcity. Plant and animal species will go extinct. And nearly 1 billion people will suffer through more frequent life-threatening heat waves.4
But don’t lose hope, because the IPCC report makes it clear that we can still stop the worst impact of climate change if we take action now.
Right now Congress is debating a major infrastructure and recovery bill via a process called budget reconciliation. Congress must pass the full jobs and infrastructure package, including all of the $3.5 trillion the Senate approved for the budget reconciliation process. To make sure we pass a bill that meets the urgency we need to address the climate crisis we demand the full $3.5 trillion — not one penny less.
If we win this fight and convince Congress to invest big in combating climate change, we can make a real difference for the future of our planet.
