Friend, we had to update you on this:
Texas Tribune: Texas House finally makes quorum
As you know, the Texas GOP has been trying to railroad catastrophic voter suppression legislation through their state House, and this week, they finally made quorum -- or the number of legislators required to be present to vote. That means we can expect their voter suppression bills to become law soon.
The Texas Democrats who heroically boycotted their state House gave us time to organize and pressure Congress to pass voting rights legislation. Time is up. Congress has to act and pass the For the People Act.
Because of the Texas Democrats, we finally have a real chance to end voter suppression. But our fundraising has slowed down during this critical time. We don't have the resources we need to turn up the heat on Congress -- so they don't think that passing the For the People Act is a top priority.
We all know that's not the truth, team. Of course, you understand that we will lose control of Congress if the GOP voter suppression continues. But active Democrats can't stay on the sidelines. We are $1,500 behind our goal, and we need your help now.
