As the Board Chair for Our Revolution, America’s leading progressive
grassroots-funded political movement, I’d like to talk to you about Ro
Khanna’s powerful progressive leadership in the House of Representatives —
then share how you can join with Ro and Our Revolution in demanding
transformative climate action from Congress.

Our Revolution is on the frontlines of the fights to make our government
act in the interests of working families instead of powerful big money
special interests. One of the biggest challenges we face is counteracting
the political influence of the fossil fuel industry, so our country can
move toward a green future powered by renewable energy.

Ro is one of the strongest champions we have in the fight for climate
action. He’s leading an effort to end $15 billion in federal subsidies for
major fossil fuel corporations, and he recently demanded testimony and
documents from Exxon officials regarding their decades-long effort to
spread climate disinformation and lobby Members of Congress.

For decades, fossil fuel companies have lied to the public, to regulators,
and to Congress about the true danger posed by their products. The recent
tape revealing Exxon’s lobbying practices only proves the industry’s
disinformation campaign is alive and well.

The fossil fuel industry continues to manipulate public opinion and exert
undue influence in shaping policy in Congress. That’s why Ro is demanding
that top fossil fuel executives testify in front of Congress — even if it
requires subpoenaing them.

Not only does our movement need to demand accountability from the world’s
most powerful fossil fuel companies, which have resisted Congressional
oversight in the past, we also need to show the fossil fuel industry — and
the politicians they’re lobbying — that we won’t allow their multi-billion
dollar federal handouts to stand. Not when the climate crisis is already
exacting catastrophic damage across the country.
