Just last night, the House passed the John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act (H.R. 4) to finally restore key voting provisions of the Voting Rights Act of 1965 after it was undone by the Supreme Court.
While passing this important legislation is a bold step towards finally eradicating the rampant voter suppression efforts that have plagued our country for far too long, we still have more work ahead of us if we want to see H.R.4 pass in the Senate.

More than 400 bills to suppress the right to vote have been introduced in up to 49 states this year and no Republicans voted for H.R. 4 — showing loud and clear that Republicans are continuing to uphold an unjust and broken status quo. These elected officials continue to promote obstructionist processes like bipartisanship and the filibuster to ensure that our progressive progress is halted.
In Congress, Jamaal is working to rid our government system of predatory processes like the filibuster in order to continue making transformative changes for our future.
