Hi John, I’m excited to share that new resource items have recently been added to NPH’s Racial Equity Resource Library, a collection of the most up-to-date resources on racial justice practices. |
|
Early this year, NPH launched the Racial Equity Resource Library with the goal of advancing racial justice and equity within our member organizations and helping to transform the broader affordable housing movement. The Library came as a result of NPH’s focus on embedding racial justice work into our internal work; ensuring that our organizational culture centers racial equity; and continuing to challenge ourselves to be a strong anti-racist organization. |
|
Here are three newly added resources I’d like to highlight for you: Tema Okun provides an update to the original "Traits of White Supremacy Culture" published in 1999, with new perspectives on how fear, intersectionality, and other forces contribute to the perpetuation of white supremacy culture. Vu offers better ways to think about diversifying your staff and questions to ask yourself about your strategies and outcomes. This is a more comprehensive approach to ensuring that we are being thoughtful in the process and thinking about inclusion and belonging. This project investigates the persistence of racial residential segregation across the United States. The project includes a national segregation report, an interactive mapping tool, and other elements that help us better understand segregation and work toward integration across our nation. |

Want to Help Shape Racial Justice Programming? Want to work on equity and inclusion initiatives for the NPH community and broader affordable housing sector? Then consider joining the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Working Group! This group meets monthly, and is presently working on programs for recruitment, retention, and culture change; equity in contracting; and equity in lending. Our next meeting will be Monday, October 4th at 4pm, so save the date! (Please note that NPH working groups are for members only. Not a member? Learn more and become a member today.) |

I look forward to going deeper with you in our critical work toward a more just and equitable future. If you have any questions, comments or feedback about the Library, please feel free to reach out to me directly: [email protected] Onward, Monica Joe, NPH Racial Equity & Inclusion Program Manager |
