These last few weeks have been a scary time here in Georgia. While a little over half the U.S. population has been vaccinated, we have seen a surge of COVID cases – particularly amongst unvaccinated folks – as the contagious Delta variant continues to spread.

Here in Georgia, over 90% of ICU beds are occupied, and cases are reaching highs we haven’t seen since last year. Meanwhile, our vaccination rate is lagging behind the national average.

We know that getting vaccinated as soon as possible is the best way to curb the spread and get all of our lives back on track. We must work to ensure that folks know the FDA approved vaccines are safe and effective.

As a Georgian, I have been particularly dismayed to watch Governor Kemp and our state leaders fail to protect us. Just last week Gov. Kemp allowed businesses to disregard local guidelines on keeping Georgians safe, and he has done nothing to incentivize Georgians to get vaccinated.

This is a scary time for all of us, John. With students returning back to school, and many non-essential workers also returning to in-person offices, I want to know what questions and concerns you have so I can take them back to Washington D.C. with me when Congress is back in session in September.
