John —

Big news team, the House passed the John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act last night. My friend, colleague, and mentor John Robert Lewis spent his life fighting for equal access to the ballot box, and this bill honors his legacy by strengthening voter protections across the country.

But we need your help to keep up the pressure in the Senate.

The bill protects our sacred right to vote by reimplementing the requirement that states with a history of voting discrimination — including Georgia — submit changes to voting laws to the federal government for review, adding a layer of protection against the Jim Crow 2.0 voting restrictions targeting people of color that have cropped up across the country, particularly in the South.

This is the kind of progress that our country needs. But we can only continue this critical work with your help. Will you contribute to our campaign so we can work to keep Congress blue next year?

Hank has been at the forefront of this fight. He was an original cosponsor of the bill, and like his mentor John Lewis, was even arrested for protecting voting rights.

We need champions like him to remain in Congress, even though Republicans want him long gone.

There is real momentum behind voting rights. We just passed this bill, and March On for Voting Rights events are happening in Washington, D.C., Atlanta, Miami, Phoenix and Houston to call for action on Saturday.

This could really happen, but only with your support. Will you join our campaign to fight for voting rights in this country?

Thank you,
— Hank Johnson
