We’re getting very close to naming our next target for the midterm elections, to join Sen. Ron Johnson in our list of elected officials who must be defeated next year.

Our three finalists have each had an eventful summer, to put it mildly.

Rep. Devin Nunes (CA-22) , best known for being given the Presidential Medal of Freedom for shamelessly doing Trump’s bidding on the Russia investigation, has made headlines recently for attacking mask mandates and for suggesting that the White House may be planning to use “computer-generated graphics” to fake President Biden’s speeches. You’d expect nothing else from someone who once tried to sue a fake cow.

We also learned that Rep. Mo Brooks (AL-05) , the guy who told the crowd at the Jan. 6th rally to “start taking down names and kicking ass,” let it slip that he was wearing body armor that day in anticipation of violence. It’s no wonder that, when he tried to get the Justice Department to grant him immunity from liability for having helped incite a riot, his request was denied.

And then there’s Rep. Lauren Boebert (CO-03) , who tweeted that “Today is 1776” on January 6th and spent most of the attack broadcasting the exact locations of police and several members of Congress over social media. She’s been in the news this week for tweeting that the Taliban were “building back better” in Afghanistan, achieving the rare accomplishment of being condemned by members of both parties. She also was one of SHAMEFUL 16 House Republicans to oppose efforts to grant emergency visas to Afghan interpreters whose lives and families are right now being threatened by the Taliban. (That one’s pretty personal for people like me. I can’t imagine a more cowardly decision than to turn our backs on those who risked everything for American service members.)

We’re hoping to make a final decision before the end of the month on which race to target next, so this is your last chance to weigh in.
