In the month of August, 53 people lost their lives to gun violence in America -- cutting innocent lives short, traumatizing families for life and throwing communities into shock.

Recently, the House passed 3 different bills to prevent gun violence, even in the face of Republican obstruction. Soon, we’ll send them to Mitch McConnell in the Senate where they will die.

We must demand that Mitch McConnell show the political courage to bring these critical bills to the Senate floor.

It is our responsibility as legislators to end this epidemic of gun violence in our country because we have the power to do it. I will continue fighting tooth-and-nail to pass real common-sense gun laws and no one is going to stand in my way -- not even Mitch McConnell.

We’ve already passed legislation back in February and here we are, once again asking, pleading and demanding that Republican Senators listen to the American people, do their job and end this vicious cycle of gun violence that plagues our country.
