I just voted to pass the John Lewis Voting Rights Act through the House, and now, it's on its way to the Senate for a vote.

This sweeping package of voter protections will put the teeth back into the original Voting Rights Act of 1965 -- a voting rights law that our ancestors fought for centuries to secure, including the late Congressman John Lewis himself.

The right to vote is sacred; it's the foundation of all our other legal rights in America. Republicans are undermining our voting rights in nearly every state in the country, including right here in Pennsylvania. The John Lewis Voting Rights Act couldn't come at a more pressing time.
