First, Abbott tested positive for the coronavirus. One day before the news broke, he appeared at a crowded campaign event, maskless, shaking hands and posing for pictures. Lucky for him, Abbott recovered quickly since he received the kind of care President Trump got when he tested positive.
Yet for years, Abbott has denied federal funds toward expanding Medicaid to help many Texans get access to health care.
Abbott’s also in the midst of a battle over mask mandates for school districts in cities like Houston, Dallas, Austin, and San Antonio. The governor has banned mask mandates, but local leaders are more focused on protecting their students.
Luckily, the Texas Supreme Court came down on the side of school districts.
Gov. Abbott has said that he wants Texans to exercise “personal responsibility.” We couldn’t agree more -- we need someone who is responsible to run our state, not Greg Abbott.
Now, we’re hearing that he’s planning a 2024 run for president. But that can’t happen if he loses re-election in 2022. And we are dedicated to making sure he’s defeated.
Abbott has had an extremely turbulent tenure as governor. He presided over a massive power outage -- known as the big freeze -- of his own making in February 2021. And he’s now battling Democrats in the State Legislature who are bravely fighting against his voter suppression efforts.
Worst of all, Abbott is contending with a MAGA base that refuses to get vaccinated, leading to record-high COVID infections, hospitalizations, and deaths.
He must be held accountable. Please join us in defeating Greg Abbott.
