“New York has always been a beacon of refuge for those escaping conflict.”

Dear Friend,

New York must live up to its values as a safe haven by opening its doors to Afghan refugees. The results of our withdrawal have left thousands of Afghan civilians at risk. That’s why I led a coalition of elected officials across the state in a letter to President Biden to direct Afghan refugees and asylum seekers to New York, to do all that we can amidst this troubling chaos.

Read our recent feature in the New York Daily News to learn more about our appeal to provide refugees with a safe home in NY.

You can help resettle refugees right now by sending lifesaving aid through the International Rescue Committee. Your direct donation to the IRC allows them to deliver comprehensive help where it is needed most. Please, if you’re able, donate today to support the affected children and families in Afghanistan.

If you know of any other resources that might be helpful, please reply to this email so that we can share them. Supporting Afghan asylum seekers is urgent and crucial, and we New Yorkers need to come together to do our part.

Sincerely,

Andrew
