Folks,
This is urgent — a federal appeals court just upheld a Texas law outlawing the safest method of abortion for women in their second trimester.
Not only is this a direct threat to a woman’s autonomy over her own healthcare decisions, it’s medically unsound. It undermines a doctor’s ability and right to make a medical decision in the best interest of their patient. Additionally, the law requires doctors to conduct medical procedures that may provide no benefit to the patient.
As the only Senator who worked at Planned Parenthood, I understand the stakes. This law was previously overturned in 2017; it’s imperative that we do everything we can at the federal level to protect abortion rights — we cannot let cynical Republican politicians drag us backwards.
Add your name to my petition if you think it’s past time that Republican lawmakers stopped policing necessary healthcare procedures. If the Supreme Court lets this abomination stand, then Congress must act.
For several years now, a majority of Americans have opposed the Supreme Court overturning Roe v. Wade. However, Donald Trump stacked the Court with conservative justices who are likely to overturn this landmark ruling if it comes before them. As a result, it’s up to Congress to not only fight back against these senseless abortion restrictions but defend Roe v. Wade.
Republicans have spent almost 50 years attempting to rescind Roe v. Wade, but I will fight for as long as it takes to protect abortion rights — and I know I’m not the only one.
If you’re with me, add your name to my petition urging Congress to pass legislative action defending the constitutionally-protected right to an abortion.
We can’t let Republican state legislatures get away with infringing on our fundamental freedoms. From my time at Planned Parenthood to now, abortion access is a highly important and deeply personal issue of mine. I know it is for many of you too. Thank you for standing with me.
