[[link removed]]Dear John,

In 1963, hundreds of thousands of Americans travelled to DC to participate in
the March on Washington. These heroes, most of them ordinary citizens, marched
for justice. They marched for democracy, for voting rights, for a freer and
fairer America—and they won. Two years later, Congress passed the Voting Rights
Act of 1965.

There are people who’d like to see us go back to a time when only a privileged
few were allowed to participate in our democracy. Since the beginning of 2021,
more than 400 voter suppression bills have been introduced in 49 states (1) . Each one poses a major threat to the fairness of our elections.

Democracy in America is under attack. But we’re ready to defend it.

Fifty-eight years after the March on Washington, advocates for democracy are
taking to the streets once more to protect our right to vote. Join us on August 28, 2021 for the
[[link removed]] March On for Voting Rights .
[[link removed]] Together with a coalition of pro-democracy organizations, we’ll be marching in
Washington, Atlanta, Miami, Phoenix, and Houston to demand that Congress protect
our elections and pass federal voting rights legislation.

Not located near any of those cities? No worries! You can host your own event or join us virtually.

Want to take action now? Tell your senators to pass the For the People Act
[[link removed]] , a bill that will reform our elections and secure voting rights for all
Americans.

It’s never been more important to stand up for our democracy. We’re counting on
you to help protect the voting rights of young people across America.

Best,

Edwith Theogene
