Hi John, Brett here –

This week, officials from the Federal Reserve (along with influential bankers, asset managers, and government officials from around the world) will gather virtually for the Jackson Hole Economic Policy Symposium to set important economic policy goals.

Central bankers are making policy decisions that will have huge ripple effects, including how we address the climate risk. While this meeting has taken place annually for one hundred years, this year must be different. This year it must prioritize taking action to address the growing climate crisis.

To give attendees a sneak preview of our climate demands, we teamed up with Protect Our Winters, ski mountaineer Zahan Billimoria and his son Alyosha, and professional youth skier Kai Jones to drop a banner at the summit of Mount Teewinot in Grand Teton National Park to make sure Federal Reserve officials and global leaders see our demands to #StopTheMoneyPipeline.

Watch and share our brand new video with Protect Our Winters to see our iconic Stop the Money Pipeline banner drop and learn more about our Federal Reserve campaign. [link removed]

Our goals for targeting this Symposium are twofold:

1. Shed light on Federal Reserve Chair Jermone Powell’s failure to take action on the climate crisis and call on President Biden to replace him when he’s up for re-nomination in early 2022.

2. Put pressure on the entire Federal Reserve to cut off financing for fossil fuels and account for the climate crisis in economic policy.

But to do so, we need your help, John. A few colleagues and I, along with 100+ activists from 350 Colorado, were planning to be on-the-ground during the Symposium, but we learned on Friday that the entire meeting was moved online due to COVID-19 in addition to Jackson Hole's worsening air quality conditions from wildfire smoke. That makes amplifying our actions online even more important.

Will you help us amplify our demands to stop the flow of fossil fuel finance ahead of this week’s Symposium by watching and sharing our new video with Protect Our Winters featuring ski mountaineer Zahan Billimoria and his son Alyosha and professional skier Kai Jones? [link removed]

Together we can use this moment to hold the Federal Reserve and global financial leaders to account for one of the biggest risks to our economy — climate disaster — and to protect our planet for generations to come.

Thank you for taking action and stay tuned for more ways to take action this week during the Symposium.

In solidarity,

Brett Fleishman
