Imagine if we could create a program to employ a quarter million people
with dignified jobs to combat the climate crisis.

What if I told you that we could create that program and make it a reality
this year?

As co-chair of the Unity Task Force on Climate Change, Alexandria and
allies proposed the creation of a Civilian Climate Corps (CCC). The CCC
would put 1.5 million people on a path to good, union jobs – not just in
national parks, but in under-resourced low-income communities, tribal and
Indigenous communities, and communities of color as well.

In April of this year, Alexandria joined with Senator Markey to officially
introduce CCC legislation, and earlier this month, the creation of the CCC
was officially included in the budget reconciliation bill now moving
through Congress.

While this is good news, it is our job to make sure the Civilian Climate
Corps is included in the final package and receives bold, robust federal
funding.

We are
almost at the finish line. The CCC is very close to becoming a reality.
With your help, we can get the first Green New Deal law signed at the
federal level.

[ [link removed] ]AOC is leading the charge for a Civilian Climate Corps in the latest
budget bill. If you’re able to – will you make a $3
donation to keep AOC in Congress fighting for the CCC and other Green New
Deal programs?

This is not a pipe dream. We’ve already done
this before. The Civilian Conservation Corps was one of the major New Deal
programs created by Franklin Roosevelt. It employed over three million
workers over the course of a decade — building, repairing, and conserving
our forests, parks, and natural resources.

Our climate crisis today requires another peaceful, but wartime-scale,
mobilization in order to combat the climate crisis.

Corps members will help conserve our public lands and deliver new clean
energy to low-income communities, rural communities, and communities
experiencing significant environmental harm.

They will help us address the changing climate through various
apprenticeship training opportunities and direct-hire programs that put
good-paying and union jobs within reach for more Americans. As a result,
they will help to protect and expand union organizing for generations to
come.

The Climate Corps we are fighting for will guarantee the sovereignty of
Indigenous people over their lands and not only serve underserved
communities, but recruit people from those communities as well.

[ [link removed] ]Please chip in $3 today to keep AOC fighting in
Congress for a Civilian Climate Corps that puts millions to work
combatting the climate crisis. Every dollar makes a tremendous difference.

In solidarity,

Randy Abreu
