The new Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) report warns of the now inevitable impacts of climate change but also identifies big opportunities to reduce risk. The message for companies and investors: now is the time to step up action and follow through on past pledges. In a new article, WRI climate finance expert Lihuan Zhou and Emily Neagle, senior manager for corporate relations, name six things corporate leaders must know about the IPCC report to prepare for the volatile future now in store. US Infrastructure Bill Is Good, but Not Enough to Transform the Electricity Grid

The U.S. desperately needs a modernized, clean electricity grid to reduce emissions and provide reliable energy in the face of growing climate impacts, such as fires, floods, rising sea levels and frequent extreme weather events. The bipartisan Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act is an important step in the right direction but falls well short of what is needed.
