Summer is officially coming to an end, and children are starting to head back to school. Time really flew by, didn’t it?

I was able to spend a portion of my summer attending local fairs like the ones in Delaware and Schoharie Counties -- having a great time with the boys and talking to constituents. It was great getting to actually shake hands with people and see their smiling faces after over a year of not being able to do so.

The slow return to normalcy is attributed directly to the countless Americans that made the choice to get vaccinated.

I’d like to continue to be able to shake hands and discuss the needs of our community face to face, but the slowing of vaccination rates and the new Delta variant are threatening that opportunity.

We’ve gotten this far, and we simply cannot go backward. friend, vaccines have proven to be safe and effective in stopping the spread of COVID-19.  We need to continue to work together to overcome this pandemic. 

I’m dedicated to seeing our work through when it comes to overcoming COVID-19, as well as the affects of it. That’s why I was beyond proud to vote to pass the American Rescue Plan -- which included my funding formula from the Direct Support For Communities Act that allocates funding to all local governments, no matter their size. This funding will go toward resources that directly impact our communities, from supporting mental health and addiction services, to boosting small businesses and more.

The American Rescue plan also put money directly in parents’ pockets via the Child Tax Credit. In New York’s 19th District, 38,900 households are eligible to receive these payments -- helping countless families get back on their feet and use the funding toward child care, school supplies, and food. 

This work couldn’t have been done without you, team. Every donation here and there, and every petition signed, goes a long way in our efforts to make our democracy stronger and better for all. 

I’m proud to show up for you everyday in Congress and will continue to do everything I can to ensure we’re coming out of this pandemic strong. Please continue to encourage your family, friends, and neighbors to get vaccinated and to remain vigilant to the threat of COVID-19.
