I'm proud to announce a big breakthrough in the fight against the Big Lie.

Politico says it best: "The nation’s top election officials are calling for more stringent guidelines for post-election audits, as supporters of former President Donald Trump continue to relitigate his defeat in 2020."

By a nearly unanimous vote, the National Association of Secretaries of State adopted a report that lays out common-sense standards for post-election audits.

I was one of the eight Secretaries of State, from both political parties, who wrote the new guidelines.

The guidelines are simple: Don't make up new rules after the election, preserve a chain of custody, include state and local election officials, be transparent, and communicate clearly with the public.

It's a good day for American democracy when elected leaders of both political parties can come together to reach consensus on a thorny issue. That's cause for optimism - even in the face of relentless disinformation about the 2020 election.
