The quote above is often attributed to Mark Twain, but he was actually
quoting Arthur James Balfour, 1st Earl of Balfour, who said it in 1892,
to a reporter of the Manchester Guardian.
Both men were right.
You can cherry-pick the data to "prove" anything. Data manipulation has
been used for years to support the desired narratives of those who want
to control perceptions. Here are the questions we should be asking.
