Dear John

The UK is failing on 17 out of 20 international biodiversity targets. Everything from birds and bees to wildflowers is struggling.

But instead of tackling this ecological emergency, the government is trying to pass a new law that could force the natural world into steeper decline.

Developers mustn’t be allowed to get away with trashing nature by supposedly “offsetting” damage elsewhere. That’s not how nature works. Even the protections that keep some of our most treasured national sites like the Peak District safe are at risk.

Your support is vital for our campaign to strengthen this proposed environmental law over the next 2 months. Will you chip in to help?
I'LL DONATE TO PROTECT NATURE
Another startling fact you may have heard before is that 1 in 4 native mammal species are at risk of extinction, including our beloved hedgehogs. If we don’t all act now, many of our most iconic animals could be lost forever.

As it stands, the proposed law isn’t going to change anything. We were promised a world-leading Environment Bill by the government. With its weak protection for woodlands and feeble environmental watchdog, that’s not what it’s delivered. So with your help, we want to:
  • Use our legal and campaigning expertise to lobby for loopholes to be closed.
  • Increase media attention on the Environment Bill and build public pressure.
  • Give power to people by supporting our local groups and supporters to persuade MPs to vote for a stronger law.
We need your help today if we’re going to be heard by those in power – before it’s too late. So, if you can, please will you donate to help us protect nature?
I'LL DONATE TO PROTECT NATURE

If we don’t act now, nature will pay the price. And with the government’s proposed law expected to be set in stone this autumn, we don’t have a moment to spare.

Thanks so much for everything you’ve done already.

All the best,
Kierra Box
