We have an update: President Trump came to Texas last night for a rally. And true to form, he could not help but insult us, this time claiming we "made a fortune on the hurricane."

It's not the first time he has come to Texas with these insults. He has returned to Texas multiple times this campaign cycle for his rallies. He was in Houston just last month.

It's no secret why he is coming: Texas is key to winning in 2020. It is a mystery why he thinks calling Texans hurricane profiteers is a winning message. But this is not actually a surprise -- rather it is another sign of his character, his lack of empathy, his lack of understanding, and his lack of interest.

That's why our district must send a message that this is not acceptable. Texas' Seventh District in particular is key to the 2020 battleground. It has even been called a "bellwether" for the country: Whichever way Texas' 7th goes, so goes the country. And right now there are no guarantees for who will come out on top on Election Day.
