John --

Last month, we celebrated BLM's 8th anniversary by premiering the first episode of Imagining Abolition.

We saw our former Executive Director and Co-founder Patrisse Cullors break down the reality of countless Black families and the importance of abolition of Los Angeles Unified School District's school to prison pipeline.

And now, we're excited to release Episode 2: Shutting Down Jails and Building Up Movements. In this week's episode, we'll see what it means for Black people to combat the impacts of a prison industrial complex meant to steal the dreams of thousands of Black people throughout the state.

Imagining Abolition (Episode 2): Shutting Down Jails and Building Up Movements

WATCH NOW

Through organizing our communities, we rebuilt and reimagined what it means to live in Los Angeles -- a world where white supremacy is dismantled and historically anti-Black systems no longer exist. A world where Black Lives Matter.

A world where Black people have the necessary resources to thrive and push the boundaries on what it means to truly live is why we do the work we do, and we're thankful to have you every step of the way, John.

To make this world a reality, we need to abolish the prison complex and tackle the systems built to tear down Black families. We don't do the work we do because we can, but because it's necessary for our future -- for the future of Black children and their children.
