We want to hear your voices, your stories, and how U.S. policies and political discourse have impacted our community.

John,

Here at NIAC, the most important part of our work is devoted to you and our community. Ensuring peace and diplomacy, that Iranian Americans are treated as equal citizens, are represented in our government, and that our families in Iran do not suffer from U.S. policies is central to our mission. Today, I’m asking for your help on a new report we are working on about civil rights in the Iranian-American community, and we are hoping to include your experiences as part of the report.

The systematic demonization of Iran, and by extension Iranians and those of Iranian heritage, is so common in U.S. media and politics that it can be seen in American popular culture as well. This process has led to the dehumanization of Iranian people, which in effect informs our Iran policy positions, immigration policies, as well as carrying other consequences for Americans of Iranian heritage.

We want to hear your voices, your stories, and how U.S. policies  and political discourse have impacted our community. This brief survey asks Iranian Americans to share their own experiences with discrimination, prejudice, and the personal impacts of these policies. Please take a few minutes to answer the following questions and help inform our report, in which we would like to share real stories and real experiences from our community. You can answer these questions anonymously or use your name if you wish.

You can take the survey here. Thank you so much for your help and support John.

Sincerely,

Assal Rad
