Did you see the new climate report that said we’re in a “code red for humanity”? It confirmed some of our greatest fears about climate change and what it means for our way of life.
But it’s not a surprise to my farming community - we’re already feeling the disastrous effects with warming temperatures and longer droughts.
I strongly believe if we want to truly get ahead of this crisis and combat climate change, we have to make sure every community is included in the solution — including our farmers.
That is why I was so proud to introduce my landmark piece of climate legislation: the Future of Agricultural Resiliency and Modernization (FARM) Act. We brought together environmental groups like the League of Conservation Voters with agricultural leaders like the Almond Alliance to make sure farmers are a part of the climate solution.

I’ll be honest, it wasn’t always easy to get this bill written with such a diverse group of stakeholders. But with a common goal in mind and the same catastrophic climate emergency facing us, we were able to create a comprehensive bill that embraces farming communities like mine as part of the climate solution.
This bill means real action — providing farmers with critical funding to help alleviate the increasingly severe impacts caused by climate change. By making sure farmers have the resources they need to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, improve air, water, and soil quality, and enact more sustainable farming practices, we can make a real difference right here at home in the fight to save our planet.
