Newsom could be replaced by candidate with far fewer votes
- The Los Angeles Times
This should worry you, John.
If over 50% vote to recall, the candidate with the most votes becomes governor. In theory, a Republican who received millions less votes than Gavin could be elected governor.
47% of voters plan to vote to recall Newsom. That means just three percentage points stand between Gavin Newsom and far-right Republicans like Larry Elder, Kevin Faulconer, and yes… even Caitlyn Jenner. And they could be elected with just a fraction of the vote.
This is not a drill. We need you to chip in a split $3 to defend Newsom and get the word out about how serious this recall is. Voters are filling out ballots as we speak and we have just a few weeks to get this done.

The last mail-in ballots just hit mailboxes across California.
That means every single day between now and September 14th is an opportunity to defend Newsom and get more Democrats to the polls.
Right now pro-Trump, anti-science Republican Larry Elder is at the top of the Republican polls. Yes, this guy:
Elder spent his entire career spewing right-wing talking points on his talk show.
If he wins, he's in charge of key issues and appointing judges and other potential political appointments in our state. We can't let him anywhere near the governorship:
