Dear Colleague,
Like George Wallace standing in the schoolhouse door keeping out black children, the paladins of the UN Population Fund are blocking pro-life groups from an upcoming conference that will consider the spread of abortion. UNFPA is refusing to admit Family Watch International, C-Fam, the Heritage Foundation and other pro-life groups accredited to the UN from attending the upcoming conference in Nairobi, Kenya. This is outrageous and will certainly cast a pall over whatever document comes out of that meeting. The UN has accepted NGOs from the day its doors opened. The move by UNFPA is anti-UN and anti-democratic by any measure. I report on this appalling
development.
There is a looming battle between UN bureaucrats and UN member states over the thorny issue of UN treaty body reform. The treaty bodies, which monitor compliance with human rights treaties, have gone almost totally nutty and power-hungry over the years and the member states want to reign them in. The problem is that any major UN bureaucrat has more power at the UN than any single UN member state. We shall see how this develops. Stefano Gennarini, J.D. reports.
Spread the word. Be daring. Keep the faith.
Yours sincerely,
Austin Ruse
President
