This month, President Biden extended the student loan payment freeze through January and forgave 5.8 billion dollars in loans for over 300,000 disabled borrowers. This is a huge deal -- but we can go further.

This summer, I introduced a bill to forgive student debt for founders and employees of small businesses and startups. High rates of student debt -- particularly in communities of color -- have a negative impact on entrepreneurship, which in turn has a negative impact on local economies and working families.

By forgiving debt for students who start and work at small businesses, we can support individuals who are burdened by debt and foster investments in all our communities.

When young entrepreneurs are empowered to start and work at local businesses, we all benefit.
