Earlier this week, Ceres along with ten of our nonprofit partners, published an open letter in the New York Times calling on American CEOs to show true leadership in tackling the climate crisis.
The letter asked America’s companies to set science-based targets for reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and advocate for science-based climate and energy policies, not obstruct them.
Yesterday, I brought this message directly to Congressional leaders when I testified before the House Natural Resources Committee on how we can get to net-zero emissions.
For years, Ceres has been working with many of the world’s largest companies to make bold climate commitments and support innovative climate and energy policies that will help us tackle the climate crisis once and for all.
We first set the expectation that companies be transparent and consistent about their public policy advocacy and lobbying efforts in the Ceres Roadmap for Sustainability in 2010. And for more than a decade, we’ve spearheaded the most effective network of companies in the U.S. that are advocating for innovative climate and energy policies at the state, national and global level.
We welcome this expanded call for action and look forward to building on our own 30 years of impact in advancing corporate sustainability leadership with our nonprofit peers. Learn more about this concerted NGO effort by reading our CEO and President Mindy Lubber’s recent Forbes column.
Onward,
