John — The Census Bureau just released demographic figures for the last decade, which has set off the race to the bottom for Republicans around the country to gerrymander themselves into power.
At the same time, they continue to pass laws that target voters of color and restrict their access to the ballot box. I’m an original cosponsor of the John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act, which would restore protections in the Voting Rights Act and protect our sacred right to vote.
Voters should choose their leaders, not the other way around. If we don’t act by banning political gerrymandering and passing voter protections, Republicans will make their control permanent.
