To save our democracy – by stopping far-right voter suppression, extreme
partisan gerrymandering, and getting Big Money out of politics – we need
Congress to pass the For the People Act.

It's becoming increasingly evident that to pass the vital,
democracy-saving reforms contained in the For the People Act, President
Biden needs to go all in with his support. That means using the power and
leverage of his office to increase pressure on senators to end the
filibuster and pass the bill.

We have only a few weeks left until the Senate is back from recess and
then a very tight window of time to pass the For the People Act into law
in order for it to have effect before the 2022 midterm elections.

With the support of members like you, we've been mobilizing People For
activists and members of People For's Young Elected Officials Network and
African American Ministers in Action to ramp up pressure on both the
Senate and President Biden.

Now, as we approach the anniversary of the March on Washington this
weekend, we're kicking our efforts into high gear by spearheading civil
disobedience actions – starting tomorrow with one near the White House,
organized in partnership with the League of Women Voters, that will
include People For members, elected officials, religious leaders, and
other democracy activists.

This is the most urgent and "hottest" phase of our campaign as we near the
all-important mid-September deadline. We need to raise another $73,550
just this week to keep these tactics going strong and ensure that they
have the biggest impact.

We only have until mid-September, after which millions of voters could
have their rights denied and the 2022 and 2024 elections could be
effectively stolen…

That’s how high the stakes are.

We’re seeing signs of progress on the For the People Act in the Senate –
which means that our pressure is working! But what might be the
make-or-break factor in the Senate for this historic and desperately
needed bill is how much the president will use his bully pulpit and the
leverage of his office to help us move senators, especially on the
filibuster.

We recently joined with a handful of our partner organizations and members
of Rep. John Lewis’s family to deliver 400,000 petition signatures to the
White House, calling on President Biden to go all-in on the fight for
voting rights – including pushing forcefully for filibuster reform.

Whether or not voters will continue to decide our elections – the very
core of a functioning democracy – is on the line, just over these next few weeks.

The Far Right wants to cement its grip on power – despite having the
support of far fewer voters. And if we can’t get the bills through
Congress to thwart their voter suppression, their gerrymandering, their
Big Money, and their Supreme Court majority’s dangerous anti-democracy
decisions, they will succeed.

So WE need to continue to organize grassroots pressure on senators AND the
White House, with events in DC to complement our ongoing work around the
country, online, and in the news media.
