Earlier this summer, I was with President Biden in Philadelphia at the National Constitution Center as he gave a speech about the importance of safeguarding voting rights across the country.

Here’s what the President said:

“Perhaps the most important of those things — the most fundamental of those things — is the right to vote. The right to vote freely. The right to vote freely, the right — the right to vote fairly, the right to have your vote counted. The democratic threshold is liberty. With it, anything is possible. Without it, nothing — nothing."

Since then, we’ve seen Republican-led state legislatures chip away at voting rights across the country, making it more difficult for voters, particularly black voters or voters of color to access the polls.

Let me make this clear: These attacks are the 21st Century version of Jim Crow, and I am going to do whatever it takes to ensure no Americans have to deal with the racist and horrific laws.
