My team has filled you in that we have been spending a lot of our time meeting and having conversations on the ground in our three partner states. I truly wish I could invite you to take part in these discussions. Every time, I walk away from the meetings with a renewed commitment and reassurance that Groundwork Project is filling a gap that has existed for a long time.
Why is that? A lot of national organizations are focused on clear battlegrounds and short term commitments to quickly flip a seat. Don’t get me wrong, this work is critical but this strategy leaves states and communities behind—and Democrats scrambling from cycle to cycle looking for razor thin majorities.
Groundwork is focused on multi-year investments in places where we need to play the long game. We are focused on ten-year plans, not two-year plans, because creating infrastructure requires sustained, year-round organizing which requires sustained, year-round resources. From our meetings with our partner states, we know this is what we need to change the game in some of the toughest areas.
Even though I can’t have you in the room with me (virtually or physically) for these meetings, I want to do my best to keep you in the loop.
Over the last few weeks, our team met with advocates and local leaders in Mississippi to learn how deeply intertwined economic, racial, and electoral justice is for their residents. We also spent several days meeting with grassroots leaders in Alabama who are fighting year-round to make equity and justice real for all Alabamians.
When you donate to Groundwork, you are powering our ability to assist leading organizations on the ground with direct financial assistance, but more importantly, you are sustaining our team’s ability to facilitate critical donor cultivation and introductions, grassroots digital fundraising, social media spotlight, volunteer support, leadership training, and other capacity-building assistance at scale.
So, what do you say? Can I count on you to donate to power our organization and this critical work? [[link removed]]
While we are on the topic, I’m going to chat with my team to see if there’s a way we can share some of the most inspiring moments from our recent meetings. I’ll circle back with more soon!
Joe
