Friend,

For someone who doesn’t understand what a quid-pro-quo is, Donald Trump sure finds himself wrapped up in a lot of them. And I’m not just talking about Ukraine. A few weeks ago, The New York Times reported that the NRA offered Donald Trump financial support towards his impending legal battles in exchange for dropping gun reform legislation.

We can’t count on Donald Trump, which is why I’m hoping you’ll take this pledge today: <[link removed]>Commit to supporting 2020 candidates -- like me! -- who will fight for sensible gun reform. <[link removed]>

This act of cowardice proves what we’ve known all along, that Donald Trump has never been serious about negotiating with Democrats. After Las Vegas, Parkland, El Paso, Dayton, and every mass shooting in this country, we hear the same empty rhetoric from Trump and Republicans -- but time and again, their false promises fall flat. We need representatives in office who can take a stand against gun violence, so if you want to help elect more of them, will you sign this petition today? <[link removed]>

According to the Times, Wayne La Pierre allegedly asked Trump to “stop the games” on gun reform. But this isn’t a game to my colleagues and me, and it’s not a game to the hundreds of thousands of Americans who’ve fallen victim to gun violence, either. I’m serious about taking action on gun reform. If you are too, will you add your name today to support my fight? <[link removed]>

Best,
Ted
