John xxxxxx,
As more and more of our communities experience the severe consequences of climate change, like extreme weather events, heat waves, flooding, and dangerous air quality, it’s clear that we are running out of time to act to stop the most devastating effects of climate change.
This month, the United Nations issued a new report on climate change that called the warning signs around us a “code red for humanity.” The extreme heat and historic fires we have already experienced this summer are just the latest warning signs.
But we also know that working people and communities of color are already affected disproportionately by climate change — and are facing the brunt of the crisis.
Ever since my time in the New York State Assembly, I have been committed to the fight for environmental justice to keep our air and water clean and safe. I won’t stop now.
We must ensure that our budget resolution includes significant funding for clean energy and environmental justice initiatives to tackle climate change head-on.
I need you with me on this, John xxxxxx. If you agree that climate solutions must be prioritized in this budget resolution, add your name next to mine today >>
We have an extraordinary opportunity right now to create American jobs, invest in clean energy, and lead the world in the fight against climate change. We cannot afford to miss it.
Keep the faith,
Hakeem
