In just a few days, right-wing billionaire Betsy DeVos will be in New Hampshire to rally Donald Trump’s base. DeVos and her family have donated hundreds of millions of dollars to Republican causes and candidates – and her visit is a clear signal that the Trump network is laser-focused on flipping New Hampshire red.

I first got involved in public service to ensure that all Americans, regardless of personal circumstances, have the opportunity to succeed. My decision to run for office was inspired in large part by my advocacy to ensure that my son Ben, who experiences severe disabilities, and other kids like him would have the same opportunities as their peers.

During Betsy DeVos' confirmation hearing for Secretary of Education back in 2017, I specifically questioned her on whether she would enforce the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act. Not only did she refuse to say she would, but she also demonstrated that she was unaware that this landmark civil rights law was a federal law.

It was clear that Ms. DeVos was unqualified to serve as secretary of education. Her confirmation passed by just one vote – with Mike Pence breaking the tie.

That’s why I’m reaching out to you today, folks. Donald Trump, Mike Pence, and Betsy DeVos are fully invested in New Hampshire, and that’s bad news for our Senate majority.
