Friend — the League of Conservation Voters has JUST learned that President Trump is opening more than half of the irreplaceable Tongass National Forest to logging.
As the largest remaining temperate rainforest on earth and America's largest national forest, the Tongass provides a home to bears, wolves, eagles, and deer. The waters that surround it nourish salmon and orcas. Most importantly, there are many Alaskan Native communities who have led this fight, stewarded the forest, and who would face irreplaceable damage to their way of life if Trump's plan moves forward.
Losing it as part of yet another Trump handout to corporate polluters would be a devastating blow to our fight against climate change. I'm furious — and I'm not the only one.
One of our donors just reached out to say he's so angry about Trump's land grab that he's offering to QUADRUPLE MATCH every gift to LCV for one day only.
The next 24 hours are critical. RUSH your emergency contribution to the League of Conservation Voters right now and QUADRUPLE your impact on the fight to protect Tongass »
On Tuesday, Forest Service officials said the plan will be subject to public comment for 60 days. We need to start flooding the Forest Service with comments to force them to back away from this plan, and start a grassroots campaign in Congress to get this decision reversed. And we need to do it NOW.
This is our bread and butter, friend: mobilizing our members to get results, and putting enormous pressure on Congress to take action. But we're already running a slew of equally vital campaigns — from blocking drilling in the Arctic, to protecting our public lands, and more — and we can't afford to pull back.
An urgent gift of $5 TODAY will go four times as far to help us ramp up our advocacy to protect the Tongass and keep all our other efforts running in high-gear. But your support only quadrouples if you give today — don't wait!
Make no mistake — this will be a really tough fight. The media has reported that Trump himself has intervened to pressure the Forest Service to open the Tongass to clear-cut logging. But we've faced attacks like these before, and when LCV members band together and act — we win. I know that we can do it again, and save this priceless national treasure from President Trump's reckless assault.
Thank you for all you do for the environment and the protection of our precious public lands.
Sincerely,
Alex Taurel
