The summer is almost over, and that means I’m headed back to high school in less than two weeks. While I always look forward to being back in classes with my friends, there is someone in my family who gets even more excited about a new school year — and that’s my dad, John King.

My dad has been an educator his entire life. Not only did he teach high school social studies and civics, but he was also a principal, a college professor, and President Obama’s Secretary of Education. Nothing makes my dad happier than seeing people learn and giving every child a fair shot at success through education, and now he’s running for Governor of Maryland to do just that.

As governor, I know my dad will advocate for all Marylanders to access every opportunity possible like he always has done for my sister and me. He’s the right leader for Maryland, and I’m really proud of him. So, as the summer winds down and classes start up, I hope you’ll join me in supporting an educator for governor — my dad John King.
