Folks

We just wrapped up the first week of school here in Arkansas and as a proud #GirlDad, I’m filled with excitement for my daughters as they embark on another school year.

However, when I dropped my girls off for their first day earlier this week, something felt different. We can’t ignore the fact that the Delta variant is still spreading rapidly -- and I want my daughters, and every student in Arkansas, to be as safe as possible while they’re at school.

Now that the mask mandate ban has been overturned, dozens of school districts across Arkansas have made the right call, followed the science, and are doing what’s right for our kids -- which is requiring masks indoors and following other COVID safety protocols.

In-person education is essential for our kids to succeed and masks are a tool for protecting our kids and their access to a quality education.

As a parent, these safeguards make me feel relieved to know that my girls will be able to stay healthy this school year. As a candidate for governor, I’m also reminded of the importance of strong, local leadership in times like these.

I'm so grateful to every single educator and administrator in Arkansas for ensuring our students have a safe and successful school year. I’m inspired by the perseverance shown by all of our students and teachers and cannot wait to see what great things they accomplish this school year.

Thanks for reading,

Chris Jones

P.S. I’m running for governor of Arkansas to make sure every student in the state has the tools they need to thrive from pre-K to higher education or job training. Will you chip in $5 to my campaign and help me ensure a safe environment and a quality education for all students? → [link removed] [[link removed]]
