Recently, I read about a Massachusetts high school teacher who posted on social media that she’s: “Very proud to say we got the Odyssey removed from the curriculum this year!”

Homer and the legendary Odysseus are just the latest casualties in a systematic purge of classic literature and stories from school curriculums.

These cancelations rob our young of classic tales of adventure and friendship, where young people can learn timeless truths about the world and how best to live—something many Americans cannot agree on in the first place.

Books like these are rare, and the best of them are revised, ignored, or removed in most of today’s schools.
