Hi Friend -
This was a week of heavy hearts. Watching our country turn it's back on Afghanistan, letting the Taliban swarm in, leaving Americans and our Afghani allies on the ground, uninformed and alone. What are we thinking?
My mind immediately flashed to images seen over the years of elections in Afghanistan. People standing in line, showing their Voter IDs, dipping their fingers in ink to signify their vote had been cast and knowing full well their finger could be chopped off or worse. But yet, they did it. They turned out and voted, with America's military there on the ground helping to keep the peace and give the Afghani people a chance to experience freedom of expression through the power of their vote. Years of fragile progress made towards the empowerment of women and the advancement of women's rights was crushed. It's all gone.
Here at home there are still a lot of questions left unanswered about 2020. Lots of misinformation, lots of information still to come, but all the while 2022 midterm elections ebb ever closer. What should be ringing in all our ears is Barack Obama's oft repeated quote, "Elections have consequences."
Now more than ever before, we need to commit to participating in our local elections. If things are broken, work to fix them. We're all in this together.
May God bless all those whose hearts yearn to be free. May God bless America.

PS - Cleaning up your local voter rolls to better ensure accuracy is a great way to engage! Our web-based app IV3 is designed to help you do just that. We are rolling it out first in Georgia, Texas, and Montana. Signups start next week, stay tuned.
PPS - On August 28th, groups are planning coordinated marches across the country for the purpose of advancing the John Lewis Voting Rights Act, which is one of several legislative attempts to federalize elections.
