John,
Last week, our member secretaries convened with their Republican counterparts at the National Association of Secretaries of State annual meeting. They came away with a comprehensive plan to regulate election audits:

We think these are some common-sense rules: set a timeframe for audits, conduct them under strict government scrutiny, and don’t hand over ballots or voting machines to unsupervised third parties.
But even the committee that made the rules couldn’t come to a full consensus, since two of the four Republicans abstained or voted against the guidelines. We need our election officials to agree on the basic rules for auditing votes!
What do you think, John? Do you support bipartisan restrictions on post-election audits? Take the poll and let us know!
