Five Victories For Public Health: Courts Enjoin The Public Charge Rule

Shortly before it was set to take effect last Tuesday, five federal districts courts, sitting in Washington, California, Baltimore, Cook County, and New York City, issued preliminary injunctions against the Trump administration’s new public charge rule, halting at least for now a rule that was widely expected to reduce immigrants’ access to health care, place new burdens on safety-net providers, and jeopardize public health, especially in immigrant communities. A CLOSER LOOK—Vaccinations

A CDC report shows that rates of young children not receiving vaccinations against certain diseases, including measles, continued to climb in recent years. A Health Affairs study from 2018 reveals how receipt of childhood vaccinations in the US has been declining, and outbreaks of preventable infectious diseases have become more common.
