Dear John, Early next week, the House of Representatives will vote on President Biden’s massive $3.5 trillion budget plan, which he has been calling an investment in “human infrastructure.” Please contact your U.S. Representative and demand that they vote against the budget resolution and stop this massive $3.5 trillion “infrastructure” plan. On August 11, Democrats rammed the budget resolution through the Senate on a party-line vote. Passing this budget resolution in both chambers of Congress is a key procedural step that would allow Democrats to spend trillions with just a party-line vote. This means that if we can stop the budget resolution from passing the House, we can stop Biden’s $3.5 trillion in new spending from becoming law. It is absolutely imperative that we defeat this bill. If this package becomes law, it will stand as the largest expansion of the federal government’s size and power in American history. When this budget resolution passed the Senate, Sen. Ed Markey (D-Mass.), said “Without question, the Green New Deal is in the DNA of this green budget resolution.” Hundreds of billions of dollars in this budget will be used to pay for handouts to big labor unions, implement the Green New Deal, and fund a huge wish list of other Socialist programs and policies. It redefines “infrastructure” to include public housing, childcare, and a new Civilian Conservation Corps, among other unrelated programs. This new spending would be paid for with trillions in tax hikes on American families, the largest since 1968, and even more deficit spending. The Trump tax cuts that allowed our economy to grow and be globally dominant would be rolled back, and the increased deficit spending would risk severe inflation and saddle future generations of Americans with unsustainable debt. The budget resolution not only pushes the U.S. closer to Socialism, but it also threatens our national security by shortchanging defense and homeland security spending, which has become even more critical following the terrible and chaotic withdrawal of our troops from Afghanistan. Please contact your U.S. Representative right now to defeat the budget resolution. It’s urgent that you act today. A vote in the House could take place as early as Monday, August 23. We have a very limited amount of time to flood Capitol Hill with letters opposing this massive and wasteful spending plan. John, while it is critical to make your voice heard by all of Congress, it’s even more important to take action if you live in a district represented by a Democrat. Since all Republicans are expected to vote against this plan, we just need to convince only five Democrats to vote against the budget resolution. Many moderate Democrats have gone on the record as being uncomfortable with $3.5 trillion in new spending, and we need to make sure that they take the next step and vote against the budget resolution Please contact your elected officials now and demand they stop this radical, wasteful, and expensive budget boondoggle today. Thank you for taking action. Sincerely, Deborah Collier Vice President of Policy and Government Affairs |
