“When my party’s wrong, I’ll say it.”
That’s what Cory Gardner promised. He just didn’t mean it.
Donald Trump is raiding $3.6 billion from the national defense
budget—including $8 million from Peterson Air Force Base in Colorado
Springs—to build a wall (the one he said Mexico would pay for). Ten
Republicans stood up to Trump yesterday and voted to oppose his raid.
Gardner wasn’t on the list.
No surprise there—Gardner votes with Trump at nearly every turn. That’s
one of the reasons Gardner’s approval rating has sunk to just 36 percent.

Gardner talked a good game to win this seat in 2014. But that’s all it
was: talk.
Coloradans deserve a senator who will stand up to the political
establishment, even when the going gets tough. I’m doing that right now—by
running.
Our campaign is under attack from both the National Republican Senatorial
Committee and the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee. And believe
me: it’s not easy to bring Mitch McConnell and Chuck Schumer together!
But that’s fine with me. I’m not running to
please the party bosses in Washington; I’m running to represent you.

amount right now?
