John, my name is Shenna Bellows, and I’m Maine’s Secretary of State.

I wanted to tell you about the work that I’m doing in my home state, and the work DASS does nation-wide to support our voters and protect our elections.

Last weekend was our annual meeting of NASS – the National Association of Secretaries of State. It was a productive and insightful convention, and I was thrilled to work with my fellow Secretaries on bipartisan initiatives to protect the vote.

Democratic Secretaries have been at the forefront of expanding voter registration, implementing modern solutions to the challenges of the pandemic, and ensuring that every voter’s voice was heard in 2020.

Just recently, my home state of Maine passed legislation enacting online voter registration, which my office has the honor of implementing to continue safeguarding voting access for all eligible Mainers.

But we still have a lot more work to do to protect our democracy from the partisan attacks of the past few years. And that’s exactly why DASS needs your help to continue supporting pro-democracy initiatives and candidates for next year’s open Secretary of State positions.
