give hope to a veteran in need Patriot,

Right now, as you read this message, there are approximately 22 active duty military or veterans so damaged by what they have witnessed in battle that they will commit suicide by this time tomorrow.

22. That isn’t an exaggeration. A study by the Department of Veterans Affairs estimates the number of suicides at 22 a day.

The truth is that just one is one too many.

PLEASE HELP

These military veterans come to believe – wrongly and tragically – that relief from their unbearable psychological suffering will never come.

I’m talking about the kind of hopelessness that erodes, and then erases, one’s faith in the healing power of counseling, of love, of time and of God.

And I know what it means to witness the horrors of war.

My name is Commander Kirk Lippold USN (Ret.), and at the summit of my military service, I commanded the USS Cole – the ship that was bombed by al Qaeda terrorists on October 12, 2000, in the Gulf of Aden.

I pulled many bodies from the ocean that day. The memories still haunt me.

But I had one advantage. My father was a psychologist. So, throughout my childhood, I heard my dad answering calls at all times of the day and night from people who needed help – people who didn’t commit suicide because he was there to listen. And he was there to kindle hope.

That’s why I am writing you today.

There are tens of thousands of veterans at risk of losing hope and then losing their lives to suicide.

PLEASE HELP

For many military men and women, reaching out for the inspiration to go on carries a stigma. They think that if they seek help, it will damage their careers or mark them as “weak” in the eyes of others.

To address this problem, I helped found Help22.

Help22 is an organization that is challenging life coaches, counselors, social workers, psychiatrists, psychologists, and pastoral counselors around America to donate free counseling and advice to active-duty military and veterans in need.

These professionals have remarkable, effective healing tools at their disposal, and every single hour they donate to veterans in need can save a life. But to accomplish this goal, I need your help.

PLEASE HELP

America’s veterans have contributed countless selfless hours, often in distant lands, risking their lives. Unfortunately, many have been injured emotionally in profound, invisible, and life-threatening ways.

With your help, I intend to recruit mental health professionals across America and, acting as a clearinghouse, to then match them up with military members and veterans emotionally traumatized by war.

Thank you in advance for helping Help22 accomplish our life-or-death mission for those who have given us so much.

Be well and may God Bless,

Commander Kirk Lippold
US Navy (Ret.)

P.S. Thousands of active duty and retired military personnel are suffering in shame and silence. We need to fight this problem head-on – NOW – with every ounce of strength we can muster.

Would you please give as much as you can because every dollar we raise will help us kindle life-sustaining hope that can prevent military members from resorting to suicide?
