No one thought that Democrats could win both the White House and take control of Congress last year. One of the ways we did it was by promising transformative change for the American people. We’re already on our way: We put shots in arms, money in people’s pockets, and increased monthly tax cut payments for families.

We have more opportunities at hand. There is a bipartisan bill moving through Congress to address our country’s crumbling infrastructure, and while all the provisions in it are positive, it won’t create the real change Americans deserve.

Democrats are working to pass another “human infrastructure” package on our own. This package contains measures that deliver on our transformational promise to Americans:

• Universal Pre-K and extended family tax cuts.
• Added health care benefits like dental, vision, and hearing to Medicare and increased Affordable Care Act subsidies to afford insurance.
• Climate change action providing renewable energy and incentives to electrify our vehicle force.
• Improved Veterans Administration hospitals, additional funding for manufacturing, job training and workforce development programs.

Let’s not forget that under Republican control a few years ago, they passed a massive $6 trillion tax cut for the wealthiest Americans.

We’re just asking that the rich pay their fair share to cover the cost of a package that will truly invest in our country's future.

We’ll keep you updated as negotiations unfold, but we won’t stop fighting for this bill to make sure hard-working Americans benefit as much as possible.
